Description
Very large Hunter motif Cuckoo with 2-tune music box. The carving on this clock is just fabulous. The 3-dimensional antlers are the best I have ever seen. The clock measures 40 inches high, 24 wide and 21 deep. The clock was recently serviced and is running perfectly. It is a hunter motif style and has the deer head at the top, a hare and pheasant on each side, a pair of rifles, a game pouch and even the horn to call the dogs. Very cool the hunter in your house would love to have this in his man cave. It has the original bone hands and porcelain cartouche numbers set in brass frames. This clock dates to around 1890 and it approximately 128 years old. It has had a few repairs to the carving over the years as is expected. There is minor loss of carving on the lower right. This is fixable I just have not had the time to get to it yet. The 2-tune music box works perfectly and alternates tunes automatically. It cuckoos once on the half hour and calls the hour count on the hour followed by the music playing. The music can be silenced if you do not want it to play. As you can imagine this was not your normal small cheap black forest cuckoo clock. In the time when it was made this it was a very expensive clock. Probably owned by some aristocrat and hung in his hunting lodge somewhere. That is what I love about these pieces, if they could only talk, what stories could they tell.
